Receiving a Thai Massage .
To get the most out of a Thai massage, consider some of the following:
• Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing to your session (see below for details)
• Refrain from using lotions or oils on your hands and feet beforehand
• Ask any questions you may have about your treatment
• Refrain from eating for a couple of hours before your session
• Drink water after your session to help flush your system and re-hydrate your tissues
• Take a breath and relax into the experience
• A Thai Massage session can be anywhere from 1 1/2 -3 hours.
The treatment will vary depending on each person and their health goals. A treatment plan may include a series of sessions to maximize the cumulative benefits of care.
Clothing: Wearing the right clothing can make a big difference, especially if you are used to massage where you don't wear clothes at all. Light, non-restricting clothing or anything that would be worn for a yoga instruction would be best. A few notes to consider:
Wear clothes without buttons, snaps or zippers. They can get in the way of some techniques or can cause discomfort if you end up lying on them.
Ladies, wear a sports bra instead of a regular one. Most bras have hooks, wires, etc that can also get in the way (for back work in particular) or may be uncomfortable when lying face down.
